Our St Vincent de Paul Society

St. Vincent de Paul’s Annual Report to St. Charles Parishioners
for the Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2015

St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic-based volunteer lay organization that provides spiritual, financial and material assistance to people in need, on a person to person basis, in Hartland and the surrounding areas.

We place a special emphasis on one-to-one charitable service through home visits.  Our aid includes rent, utilities, food, clothes, household goods, as well as referral services to other agencies or professional services.

Client aid: St. Charles’ St. Vincent de Paul Conference members made 100 home visits, an increase of 27% over last year, serving 285 needy clients. Our members completed a total of over 5,550 hours of volunteer service that included 403 hospital, 40 prison and 687 Eldercare visits. These hours were also spent volunteering at the SVdP thrift stores, participating at the District Council ministries and servicing the St. Charles Food Pantry.

Receipts & Expenditures: Donations for 2015 were $80,743 and expenditures for the needy were $80,959.  Less than 1% of donations were spent on administrative costs. We thank our generous St. Charles parishioners for their monetary donations received in the St. Vincent de Paul poor boxes, from Mass collections and also through the mail. Your donations make it possible for us to help the needy in this area.

Food Pantry:  Our Food Pantry moved offsite this summer to accommodate the expanding school needs. We are nearby at 229 Lawn Street (at the corner of Church and Lawn). The pantry is open every Tuesday morning from 10:00 am - noon and every second and fourth Tuesday from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. The needy that come to the pantry are always greeted and assisted by members of our conference. INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTICE:  The Food Pantry is closed if Arrowhead Schools close due to weather conditions.  It will reopen the following Tuesday.

Your Share Sunday donations provide food and items such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, toothpaste and many more items to stock our pantry that are essential to the everyday needs of our patrons. We also receive donations from St. Charles school families and several outside sources. This year 1,773 people were helped with over $48,314 in food and toiletries.  Thank you for your generosity.

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores: Needy families and individuals contacted through home visits were provided furniture, clothing and household goods from the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift stores, all at no cost to them.  The stores are located at 818 Sunset Dr. in Waukesha and at W359N5848 Brown St. (Highway P) in the Town of Oconomowoc. The Thrift Stores resell donated clothing and household goods at very reasonable prices and the profits from these sales are used to support 25 outreach ministries in Waukesha County.  To learn more about St. Vincent de Paul and other District Council ministries, visit stvincentwaukeshacounty.org.
Thank you for all you do to support our ministry through St. Charles Parish.
